I did tons of research into the different brands and models before I bought it, but what it came down to was the fact I already had Minolta lenses which would fit onto the Sony Alpha. I actually love it, it does everything it's supposed to, the battery life is amazing, and it's generally lovely to use. But I've also used Canon and Nikon models at the same price which are of fairly equal quality (in my opinion!) and have all the same functions.. there isn't that much in it. I would just try some out until you find one that fits you
